We're a small-batch fin company based in Santa Cruz, California — surfers building for surfers.
Our founder started learning the craft at Rainbow Fin Co at fourteen, laminating fins by hand and absorbing everything from a name that's shaped surfing for decades. Most of what he knows about fins, craftsmanship, and surfing itself, he learned directly from Glen DeWitt, RFC's owner. Glen didn't just teach the steps, he taught the why behind them: how a template interacts with a wave, what separates a fin that's just finished from one that's actually right, and the kind of patience it takes to get there. That mentorship shaped how we still build today.
From there he went on to build boards at the Haut shop, one of the most storied shops in California, working alongside master board builders who've defined the craft for generations. That's where the standard was set: equipment a surfer can trust, made by people who actually surf.
We never forget that we're standing on decades of trial and error. Fins have been refined over and over — every change in foil, flex, and template carrying lessons from the surfers and builders who came before. We study that history, honor the classic designs that still hold up, and build on what generations have figured out about what makes a fin come alive in the water. The craft is always evolving, and we consider it our job to know it inside and out.
We carry that tradition forward in every set we make. Each fin is hand-laminated and foiled in small batches, built with the care we'd want under our own feet. No shortcuts, no chasing volume — just the right gear, made right.
